Completed in 80 AD, the Colosseum still holds the distinction of being the largest amphitheater ever created. It was on the grounds of the Colosseum where the world's greatest Gladiator Games were held. With audiences that surpassed over 50,000 spectators, this was the 1st major venue that held combative fighting as entertainment.

Many centuries after the birth of the gladiators, a new form of warrior had emerged: The Samurai. These Japanese combatants were martial artists that were governed by a set of rules that came to be known as Bushidō (the way of the warrior). Martial Arts has been embedded in the Japanese culture since the 12th century. In 1997, a Japanese organization named PRIDE FC began to host some of the greatest fights that have ever occurred on Japanese soil.
Today the modern day gladiator competes here. A canvas surrounded by eight sides of fence we call the Octagon. In 1993, the Ultimate Fighting Championship was created to answer questions. Which martial art was the most effective? Who had the best style? The answers to these questions were found inside the Octagon. The truth was found inside the Octagon.
